I have held 5 jobs at this point, all of them temporary, and 4 of them with the U.S. government. I am looking for a full-time job now where I can invest myself in a company that is willing to give me a chance. I should be finished with my college degree in the very near future and will be looking for a job with promotional opportunities where I can apply what I have learned. I have worked hard to hone my computer and office-related skills, and am eager to find a workplace where I can put them to use. Although I am pursuing a degree may be in Business Management, I am not interested in management so much as general office work and data entry. I look at management as an interesting field that I might one day, with more experience, be prepared for; but for the present, I am simply looking for a job where I can work hard and feel good about the job I've done.
My Characteristics:
I'm very determined and don't like to walk away from a task until it's finished. I'm extremely loyal and prefer doing things out of an intrinsic motivation rather than an extrinsic; I enjoy learning for the sake of learning itself, and working for the sake of working, since I see work, assuming it's honest, as something to feel good about doing, and which shapes and builds one's character and skills in the process. I am extremely honest, to the point of being blunt, and dislike even the thought that people might ever be misunderstanding my intentions. I like being kept accountable, and will go out of my way to keep myself as such. I am extremely opinionated about virtually everything, but I try to admit when I am wrong, to always consider the possibility that I might be wrong, and to listen to the opinions of others without putting them down, just as I expect them to do the same for me.
My Strengths:
- I have the ability to learn new material at an extremely rapid rate, especially that which is in literary form. I have excellent spatial awareness, knowing where everything is around me, and it's why with typing I often instantly know if I've typed a wrong key, and can auto-correct so well.
- I get along well with virtually everyone and am very slow to anger. I believe even if someone else does something wrong, I am still accountable for my own actions.
- I have the ability to focus heavily on single tasks, performing them at high levels of efficiency. Everything I learn from reading stays with me unless I just skimmed the material, so that I can recall key points as much as 10 or 15 years later.
- Once I learn a task I am good at thinking outside the box to maximize efficiency.
- I have an excellent vocabulary.
My Weaknesses:
- I can have trouble interpreting words, although I have no problem hearing sounds from far distances, and may have to ask people to repeat what they've just said.
- Although I have no problem communicating with people and don't outwardly exhibit discomfort if I feel it, I can have trouble initiating conversations with people, and it's something I'm striving to get better at.
- I can be absent-minded to a fault, and use lists or notes as reminders. I am notorious for being able to lose pencils or other items within seconds, but have trained myself to consistently put objects I often use only in certain places so that they're easier to find.
- I tend to ask a lot of questions when first learning a new task. I like to make absolutely sure I've got the process right.
- Sometimes I use antiquated terms of speech.
